Natural disasters are a typical example of people living in conflict with the environment. The vulnerability of populated areas to natural disasters is partly a consequence of decades of spatial planning policies that have not properly taken natural hazards into account in spatial planning and development decisions. It is therefore extremely important to bring together knowledge, technology and actors in the field of governance and risk management and spatial planning to achieve more effective prevention and mitigation of natural disasters. This book is designed to provide experts in Albania and the Albanian-speaking territories with a set of harmonized methodologies to analyze risks, as well as to produce integrated risk and risk instruments and maps to achieve more effective planning procedures. space in areas prone to natural disasters in Albania and beyond in the region (floods, earthquakes, landslides, forest fires, even volcanic eruptions, extreme meteorological events, etc.). In view of the objective of this publication, the assessment presented in this paper focuses on three main questions: 1. How does spatial planning take into account risk and natural risk? 2. What role does spatial planning play in practice in the process of risk governance from natural hazards? 3. What type of information should play an important role in spatial planning for natural risk mitigation?
