A theoretical study of the stability of cylindrical domains and the interaction of cylindrical domains with each other and with the magnetic host material has been reported. In particular, the case of cylindrical domains of circular cross section has been studied in deep and related to the process of skyrmions formation. The study allows to obtain, among others, the field producing a stable bubble in a thin ferromagnetic film. The stability of cylindrical domains is a crucial parameter for the design of new magnetic and spintronic devices.
