ABSTRACT: The site of Casera Staulanza (Zoldo Alto, Belluno) is located at 1681 m a.sl. in the highest sector of the Zoldana valley, just a few dozen meters from the homonymous pass. Archaeological research carried out between 2011 and 2018 allowed identifying within a sedimentary sequence composed of two main pedogenetic events (the oldest of which is dated to the Lateglacial) a consistent assemblage of lithic artefacts referable to 2 occupational phases: the Late Epigravettian and the Early Mesolithic. Sporadic evidence testifies to human presence also during the Late Mesolithic, the Copper Age and the Middle Age, an indication of the prolonged occupation of the area from prehistory to nowadays.
