Photoexcited semiconductors are of great importance both to produce value-added products and for water treatment. Cadmium sulfide (CdS) is a visible light responsive material (band-gap of 2.4 eV) that allows strong visible light absorption. However, commercial CdS presents several problems, such as poor photostability, that can adversely affect its activity and stability. To limit these problems physics and chemical properties of CdS are fundamental.

Abstract
