The soil, biological reactor, is characterized by a microbial community thatgoverns the availability of nutrients, and drives dynamics of the carbon cycle in thesoil. Therefore, the structure of microbial communities has direct and indirecteffects on the decomposition of organic matter and on plant growth. This studypresents the response of a soil, from a system of short rotation forestry in theMediterranean area, to different fertilization treatments, including a nutrientsolution containing one molecule having anti-nitrification action, a nitrogenousfertilizer with bio-stimulating properties, a slurry, and the association of thesetreatments with the other ones in order to assess different performance of thetreatments. Abstract
It was assessed also if are variations in metabolic activity of soil interms of CO2 production, and in some enzyme activities after 24 h treatment. Theuse of fatty acids as environmental indicators has assisted to understand better ifthere are structural changes in the microbial community following treatment(Lechevalier, 1989) (13) (PDF) Different fertilization mode and its effect in a soil of short rotation forestry: preliminary study for sustainable use in environment mediterranean..
