Il design dei Castiglioni. Ricerca, sperimentazione, metodo

The book is the result of a research carried out in the archives of the Achille Castiglioni Foundation, and it presents, for the first time, the design activity of the three Castiglioni brothers, developed both in group or individually from 1940 to 2002. The curating concerned the scientific research project, the choice of the authors and the themes entrusted to them, the editing and the comparison on the scientific content of texts, the iconographic research, the reasoned bibliography, the organization of the atlas. The curatorial work was accompanied by an authorial work with an essay of general classification of the theme "The Studio Castiglioni in the Italian culture of design" and one of in-depth study: "The magician's workshop. Research, experimentation and method in the design of the Castiglioni brothers" and an interview with Piero Castiglioni about lighting design.

Frutto di un lavoro di ricerca svolto presso gli archivi della Fondazione Achille Castiglioni, il libro presenta per la prima volta il lavoro progettuale dei tre fratelli Castiglioni, svolto in gruppo o singolarmente dal 1940 al 2002. Il lavoro curatoriale ha riguardato l'ideazione del progetto scientifico di indagine storica sul design dei Castiglioni, la scelta degli autori e dei temi loro affidati, l'editing e il confronto sul contenuto scientifico dei testi, la ricerca iconografica, la bibliografia ragionata, l'organizzazione dell'atlante. Il lavoro curatoriale è stato accompagnato da un lavoro autoriale con un saggio di inquadramento generale del tema Lo Studio Castiglioni nella cultura italiana del design e uno di approfondimento: L'officina del mago. Ricerca sperimentazione e metodo nel design dei Castiglioni e da un'intervista a Piero Castiglioni sul design della luce.
