«Ricerche sulla tradizione tre e quattrocentesca della Commedia» is a work of stemmatics classification of certain areas of the tradition of Dante's text. This thesis aims to illuminate, as part of a project of a critical edition of the Comedy directed by Paolo Trovato, some obscurities of the enormous manuscript tradition of the poem as a premise to an operation of eliminatio codicum descriptorum, necessary to put order mong so many witnesses (perhaps 550 MSS.) In particular, in the first chapter, I have analysed a circumscribed case: the manuscript Angelicano 1101, chosen by Petrocchi as exemplary case of inextricable contaminated text to demonstrate the impossibility of rationalizing the corpus of the fifteenth-century witnesses of the poem. Through the elaboration of additional data (collation on Barbi’s canon of loci critici on 500 MSS. about) I tried to give a stemmatic position of the MS. The second and third chapter are intended to investigate the artefacts of the copyist of Lau. Thanks to the trait d'union offered by the hand of the same scribe in several manuscripts we discover a stemmatic area orbiting around cento& (a MSS. group well known by critics), contiguous to it and affine in some respects, but which also develops independent physiognomies. The fourth chapter is focuses on a family tied up by a strong external evidence, i.e. the presence of the same comment of Francesco da Buti. In this case, I proved that it is possible to take advantage of tangential studies relating to the exegetical material around the text, in order to draw relationships among the witnesses of the poem. The thesis, on the whole, concerns the difficulties of working within families densely contaminated either because of the juxtaposition of specimens, either because of contamination of readings, both for the two types together. As will be seen, if in cases such as MS. Angelicano is sufficient to split the sections of the manuscript to find correspondence in the testimony, in the case of dense contamination (Parm and similar), the only applicable strategy seems to be to search good matches in the sequence of innovations and good readings belonging to different stemmatics areas

Abstract
Angelicano is sufficient to split the sections of the manuscript to find correspondence in the testimony, in the case of dense contamination (Parm and similar), the only applicable strategy seems to be to search good matches in the sequence of innovations and good readings belonging to different stemmatics areasFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
