The aim of this book is to reassess the scope, the effectiveness and the overall coherence of existing definitions of organised crime, and to identify any need for a reconsideration of these definitions, specifically with reference to the EU Legal order. It brings together sociologists, criminologists and lawyers with different backgrounds and expertise, discussing on the one hand definitions adopted at international and EU levels; on the other hand whether the Italian experience could serve as a model for future EU legislation in the field.
