The climate of the Trentino area is not homogeneous, being influenced by an extremelyinteresting interaction of orographic variety and dynamics of air masses (deriving from geographic position, i.e. transition between Mediterranean and continental domain). As a consequence, in a few kilometres we pass from warm sub-Mediterranean climate to glacial and continental-dry ones. Several factors contribute to create many different topoclimatic situations (often more relevant than 86 ICAM/MAP 2003 May 2003 larger scale factors): altitude varies from 70 and 3905 m a.s.l., mountain belts, massifs and valleys are irregularly distributed and oriented, the Adriatic sea is not far from the southern end, snow and glaciers are frequent at higher elevations.
