We present a preliminary measurement of Collins asymmetries in inclusive production of charged pions for the process e+e− → q qbar → pi pi X, at the center-of-mass energy near 10.6 GeV. We use a data sample corresponding to 468 fb−1 integrated luminosity collected by the BaBar experiment, and we consider pairs of charged pions produced in opposite jets in hadronic events. We measure azimuthal asymmetries in the pions distributions as a function of pion fractional energies, pion transverse momenta, and polar angle of the analysis axis. We confirm a non-zero Collins effect as observed by previous experiments.

Abstract
We present a preliminary measurement of Collins asymmetries in inclusive production of charged pions for the process e+e− → q qbar → pi pi X, at the center-of-mass energy near 10.6 GeV. We use a data sample corresponding to 468 fb−1 integrated luminosity collected by the BaBar experiment, and we consider pairs of charged pions produced in opposite jets in hadronic events. We measure azimuthal asymmetries in the pions distributions as a function of pion fractional energies, pion transverse momenta, and polar angle of the analysis axis. We confirm a non-zero Collins effect as observed by previous experiments.File in questo prodotto:
