The Semantic Web vision has motivated significant research in classifying, packaging, and semantically enriching information to support data automation, integration, and reuse across various applications. The Semantic Grid is the virtual environment in which semantically-rich data is processed, exchanged and combined by Semantic Web Services. Soon, abundant, accessible and semantically-enhanced data will leverage the large-scale development of intelligent web services. We envisage a significant role of argumentation-based reasoning techniques that enable services to exploit such a global web of knowledge globally and collaboratively, to enhance resource usage by negotiation, and to ``talk'' to their users using new communication paradigms. This chapter discusses argumentation research with respect to the semantic Grid. The main thrust of the paper is a review of current application of argumentation technologies in the Semantic Grid/Semantic Web contexts. Abstract
We also give a subjective, speculative view about the future of argumentation and the Semantic Grid.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
