My paper is inspired by the general perspective so to analyse criteria, structures, resources and procedures - but also obstacles, hasitations and lacks - of popular education in Italy after the Second World War. I want to pay attention to a limited but paradigmatic experience: the so-called COS (Centri di Orientamento Sociale), established by Aldo Capitini.
