Two one-dimensional variational models involving a cohesive energy are discussed. In the rst model the cohesive energy is recoverable, and in the second it is dissipative. The first model captures the response of several classes of inelastic materials at loading, but fails to properly describe the response at unloading. This goal is achieved by the dissipative model.

Abstract
Two one-dimensional variational models involving a cohesive energy are discussed. In the rst model the cohesive energy is recoverable, and in the second it is dissipative. The first model captures the response of several classes of inelastic materials at loading, but fails to properly describe the response at unloading. This goal is achieved by the dissipative model.File in questo prodotto:
