In the frame of this presentation a preliminary analysis of the storm that occurred during the period 4-5 December 2002 in the Antalya region (Turkey) is performed. More than 230 mm of 24-hour accumulated rainfall have been reported during the event that produced floods in the area. The analysis is based on the results of operational model simulations with MM5 non-hydrostatic model. Data provided by the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission (TRMM) sensors (including the Lightning Imaging Sensor -LIS and TRMM Microwave Imager-TMI) but also by the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) and METEOSAT are used for both the comparison with the model results but also for the characterisation of the storm.
